Our home is centrally located in the heart of Santa Cruz, close to everything! And it is two, two, two Homes in one! Our duplex is ideally located in the heart of Santa Cruz, close to everything! Rent both sides together for a total of 4 bedrooms with two fully-equipped kitchens or rented independently each is a 2 bedroom, 1 1/2 bath house with all the comforts of home.
During the summer, rented together, the entire duplex is especially well suited for family reunions or multiple friends and families vacationing together as there are two kitchens, two separate entrances and private living areas with a common yard for BBQs or sunning.
Between September and mid-June, we offer one of the homes as a vacation rental as well as on a monthly basis with deeply discounted rates. Rented indepently or in the off-season, the one 2 bedroom, 1 1/2 bathroom unit is a great space for one or two families vacationing together or for someone to stay while in town on an extended business stay, while relocating or while construction is going on in the primary home.
The property is located less than two miles from UCSC and is within easy walking distance to the beach, wharf, boardwalk, downtown, and is three houses away from Neary Lagoon. The April 2007 issue of Family Fun magazine had an article about "GREAT GROUP VACATIONS" that describes the many benefits of Group Vacations.

The duplex has a mirrored layout with each side having 1200 square feet that has 2 bedrooms and 1.5 baths. The two units share one common wall and each side can accommodate up to 12 overnight guests. When rented together that is a maximum of 24 overnight guests. We have enjoyed hosting many family events here as the property features a fully-enclosed yard and is kid and pet friendly.
Downtown Santa Cruz boasts many fine restaurants, wonderful shopping, four movie theaters, natural foods grocery store, Trader Joe's, and many other attractions such as street performers.

An easy stroll away is the Santa Cruz Wharf and the world-famous Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk that is admission-free and is a hot spot for beach vibes and classic rides! And there are complimentary world-class entertainers on Friday nights during the summer.
Santa Cruz also has many beautiful beaches. There are three children parks in the immediate area in addition to a skateboard park, a regulation size soccer park and beach volleyball courts.
Neary Lagoon is right down the street, which is a natural reserve preserving a wetland ecosystem and wildlife refuge. Wildlife inhabiting or visiting the refuge include mallard and wood ducks, pied billed grebes, a multitude of coots, the world's meanest geese, several varieties of fish and the occasional great blue heron or hawk.
A short stroll through Neary Lagoon are public tennis courts and 2 children's playgrounds.
Our home is close to a major bus line. We also provide bikes and helmets for guests to get around Santa Cruz easily during your stay. Additionally there is high-speed Internet hookup and a computer for guests' use so you can be up-to-date on the local happenings during your stay.
Additional property features are enclosed dog runs in the back of each unit, barbecues in each yard. Each unit has two bedrooms with a queen-size bed in each. Each bedroom has a daybed with two twin beds and the two twin mattresses can be put together (with a twin to king-size foam converter). Each living room has two queen-size futons. And each unit has one-and-one-half baths.
Both units have new: roof, fencing, flooring, carpeting, interior paint and furniture. We are currently offering discounted rates as the exterior is weathered and detracts from the curb appeal. This is purely a cosmetic issue.
What would be more affordable than staying in someone’s home when vacationing? Once you arrive, our centrally located duplex is fully furnished and will provide all the comforts of home, including a full kitchen. Just bring your clothes, stop at the grocery store (Trader Joe’s is close by) to stock the fridge and you are ready to start your vacation! And best of all, at the end of the day – you have true living space to spread out and unwind.
A wonderful benefit I've discovered of having a 2-4 bedroom house while vacationing is that it allows for night owls and early risers to share a vacation together. With a home to stay at, everyone's comings or goings and stay up late watching TV/movies doesn't disrupt others.
